Davon Carrington is a woodwind specialist and educator based in Oklahoma City, performing across saxophone, flute, clarinet, oboe, and their auxiliaries in theatrical, operatic, and freelance settings. He has become an established collaborator with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, with credits including Once on This Island, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Beehive. As Flute and Piccolo with Painted Sky Opera, he has performed in productions such as La Bohème, The Flying Dutchman, and Overtures: Opera’s Greatest Hits.

Freelancing across the region, Davon has performed in productions at Upstage Theater, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State University. As a soloist, one of his favorite performances was Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto in D Major (“Il Gardellino”) with Scissortail Productions. He is also an active church musician, frequently performing for Sunday and holiday services.

 

Davon earned both of his music degrees from Oklahoma City University, where he helped establish and became the first graduate of the Master of Music in Multiple Woodwind Performance program. Since its creation, the program has produced numerous doubling specialists who have gone on to teach, pursue doctoral study, and perform with national and international touring productions.

 

Some of Davon’s most meaningful musical experiences include performing with Hugh Jackman, celebrating student successes in honor band placements and college acceptances, and performing at the UCO Jazz Lab (with a special fondness for the Hideaway Pizza tradition. Cup n’ Curl Pepperoni and Green Peppers with Alfredo Sauce, every time). He is grateful for the mentors, colleagues, and friends who have shaped his musical and professional journey, including Bill Funke, Parthena Owens, Lisa Kachouee, Katherine McLemore, Joseph Wenda, Anna Resnick, Matthew Mailman, John Allen, Lemuel Bardeguez, Jared Cathey, Andrew Parker, and Scott Erickson.

Outside of music, Davon also works in the banking industry, where he specializes in loan administration and compliance, a role that reflects his attention to detail and analytical mindset.
